The Planning Board reviews certain development and subdivision projects. The Board is also enabled to grant waivers and variances from zoning requirements, as well as grant Comprehensive Permits and Special Use Permits. It also makes recommendations to the Town Council regarding zone changes.
The Technical Review Committee reviews land development and subdivision projects of all kinds and makes recommendations to the Planning Department and Planning Board. The Committee is comprised of the Planning Director, Public Works Director, Building Official, Fire Chief, and a public member appointed by the Planning Board. Other administrative staff are asked to attend and provide input.
The Conservation Commission is enabled to promote and develop the natural resources, protect the watershed resources, and preserve natural aesthetic areas within municipalities. The Commission reviews and gives recommendations on both Town projects and private development when necessary.
The Historic District Commission reviews plans for exterior alterations, repairs, moving or demolition of any structures within a Local Historic District (LHD). The Commission also participates in the review and administration of Certified Local Government (CLG) grants and seeks to preserve and enhance other historic Town resources, such as cemeteries.
